Begin smaller than you think

Home Care in West Park, Starting as Small as You Like

Aides trained for the hands-on work — washing, dressing, cooking, moving about the house — bookable from a single weekly morning and widened only if the week really needs it.

Four things worth settling before you book anything

None of them takes long, and getting them wrong is what makes arrangements collapse in month three.

How little you can start with

Ask for the smallest viable booking before you ask for a schedule. It is usually one morning.

Whether the hours can drop

Going up is easy everywhere. Find out what happens when somebody improves.

What the aide may not do

The limits should be written down before the first visit, not negotiated at the door.

Who to ring when it is wrong

A name and a number that reaches a person during office hours.

How we are different to deal with

These are the four things we would want to hear if we were the ones ringing round.

01

We will talk you down, not up

If the arrangement you describe sounds larger than the problem, we will say so and quote the smaller one. An arrangement that feels proportionate survives; one that feels extravagant gets cancelled the first month money is tight.

02

Hours come back down on a phone call

No reassessment and no forms. If a hip heals or a daughter moves closer, ring and the rota shrinks from the following week. That is the whole process.

03

Nothing is added without you asking

We do not upsell on the doorstep and we do not quietly extend a visit. If an aide thinks more time is genuinely needed, it is raised with you as a question, not written into the next invoice.

04

We will tell you when it is not us

Some of what families ring about is nursing, some is a handyman, and some needs nothing at all beyond moving a rug. Saying so costs us a booking and saves you a wasted month.

Three steps to a first visit

Usually inside a week, often inside three days.

01

A telephone call

You set out the hour that has broken down. We tell you whether this is even the right service, and what the smallest worthwhile booking would come to.

02

Somebody comes out

We come out, look at the rooms, the equipment and how the day runs, and put a short plan in writing for you to read first.

03

The first morning

The aide arrives knowing the plan. After a fortnight we ask whether it is too little, about right, or more than you needed.

Not sure it is time yet?

That is the most common reason people ring, and the call usually ends with either a small booking or the clear sense that it can wait.

Where the aides work

West Park and the neighbouring parts of south Broward, from Hollywood across to Miramar.

Rounds are shaped by driving time rather than by city limits, so an address out at the edge is often perfectly workable. Give us the road name and the slots you want and we can answer at once.

What families ask on the first call

Seven of them, with the answers we would give you over the telephone.

How does home care differ from home health care?

Home care is the non-clinical half — washing, dressing, cooking, company, getting about, keeping a house workable. Home health care is clinical and comes from a different sort of provider altogether. This site is the first kind only, and we will tell you if you need the other.

Personal care or companion care — which is which?

One is physical and one is social. Personal care means washing, dressing, the lavatory and moving safely. Companion care means somebody in the room — talking, eating together, going out. Many households take an hour of each within one visit.

Can we meet the aide before anything starts, and ask for a different one?

Yes to both. An introduction before the first working visit is normal and worth doing. If the match is wrong — and sometimes it simply is, for reasons nobody can name — say so and we will try somebody else rather than ask you to persevere.

Is the agency licensed?

An AHCA licence stands behind the arrangement. What that buys you in practice is a named supervisor over the aide, obliged to verify training and to act on what comes back from visits.

Can the hours be increased, reduced or paused later?

All three, on a telephone call. This is the question worth asking anybody you ring, because the answer tells you how much risk there is in starting small. Here there is almost none.

How are aides screened and trained?

Background checks before anyone works, and training to the Florida standard for home health aides, documented and refreshed rather than asserted. A named supervisor holds the plan and reads what comes back from each visit.

Is there a shortest visit you will take?

There is, and you will be told what it is before booking. A very short call costs more per hour, because the driving stays the same however brief the visit — better heard now than discovered on a bill.

Who you would be dealing with

Non-medical care, delivered in people's own houses across south Broward. There is no building, no clinical nursing and nobody answering in another state. The office you ring is the one holding the rota.
